We are glad to announce that the ICGG 2018, 18th International Conference on Geometry and Graphics, will be held in Milano, on August 3-7, 2018. The International Conference on Geometry and Graphics is organized biannually at different venues around the world, under the auspices of the ISGG, International Society for Geometry and Graphics. The first Conference was held in Vancouver, Canada, in 1978, hosted by the Engineering Design Graphics Division of the American Society for Engineering Education, the last Conference has been held in Beijing, China, in 2016, hosted by the Beijing Institute of Technology and China Graphics Society, CGS, therefore 2018 will be the 40th anniversary from the first Conference.

The official language is English

The spectrum ranges from fundamental research to geometric real-world applications in science and technology and it includes also all aspects of education in geometry and engineering graphics as well as industrial design. Therefore, the conference aims at providing a forum for presentation and discussion of both academic and industrial research involving theoretical and applied geometry and graphics as well as other related fields.

The 18th edition is organized at the Politecnico di Milano, by the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies DASTU. Politecnico di Milano is an academic community dealing with Architecture, Urban Studies, Engineering, and Design, then the Conference scope is deeply consistent with its cultural goals. Pure and applied, analogue and digital Geometry and Graphics are, indeed, of the greatest importance in our research/education activities and curricula, providing our basic operational language and supporting our specialized disciplinary semantics.

Details about the conference topics
are better displayed in the Call for Contributions

As the Conference Logo also tries to synthesize, we choose to dedicate this conference to Leonardo Da Vinci, after whom our Campus is named and to whom we would pay homage as a genius among the greatest, showing the widest power of Geometry and Graphics in investigation and creativity between Science and Art, and to Giulio Natta, professor at the Politecnico di Milano and Nobel prize in Chemistry in 1963, together with Karl Ziegler, as a mentor on the profound function – and the beauty – of Geometry and Graphics in Science and Technology, even at the invisible scale of the molecular world.

More details about the Logo can be found in the webpage Dedication & Logo

Concerning the overall organization, based on the Tentative Programme, Registration and Opening Ceremony will take place on August 3 afternoon at the Triennale di Milano, including a visit to the Design Museum, while the Conference officially opens with a Plenary Session titled “Eulogy of Geometry and Graphics” hosting Guest Plenary Speakers, and a Welcoming Party.  Working Sessions are scheduled on August 4, 5, 6, including Plenary Lectures given by invited ISGG members, Plenary Poster Sessions, parallel Technical Sessions, Plenary Technical Session Reports led by the Session Chairs, and Guest Plenary Lectures at the end of the day. The ISGG Board Meeting will be on August 4. The Excursion will take place on August 5, Sunday afternoon. Accompanying persons tours around Milan are also planned. The Conference Dinner is scheduled for August 6. August 7 morning will be dedicated to the final Panel Session “Reloading Geometry and Graphics”, and to the Closing Ceremony, including a Leave-Taking Snack, at about noon, end of the Conference. Aim of this edition is to encourage interaction during the conference days, as can be intuited from the several plenary sessions and discussions scheduled, for the benefit of our trans-disciplinary field and of our wide international community.

Then, come in Milan and enjoy the 18th ICGG!
